The gallery has its Grand Opening scheduled for October 2, just before the Ironman World Championship, for which the hotel is host. This historical hotel in which the gallery is located has finally completed their multi-million dollar remodeling and acquired the appropriate permits. The hotel is one of the most historical sites in the Big Island of Hawai'i and will have in display historical artifacts around the lobby area with emphasis in art, as well. KING KAMEHAMEHA'S BEACH RESORT is adjacent to the residential grounds of King Kamehameha The Great. In the hotel's grounds is a temple rebuilt by Kamehameha himself, dedicated to Lono, the god of prosperity, agriculture and peace. ARTESS GALLERY, as part of this major cultural project, will promote and display the art of local Hawaiian artists, the owner's own artwork and Serra-Marchal's.

(June 2010): To family members and friends. Carlos Serra-Marchal is doing fine. Although he just went through a surgical procedure on his left hand to provide flexibility to his ring and little fingers, he's doing great. The stiffness on these two fingers was acute, outcome of a fracture suffered during a fall. The procedure was performed in Miami's Jackson Hospital by the prominent hand surgeon Elizabeth Ouellette and it was a success. After some time of therapy, his left hand should regain its normal range of flexibility. The artist is recovering at home enjoying the Soccer World Cup, resting for a while before continuing a busy schedule painting and getting ready for the opening of a gallery in Hawaii that will exhibit his works.
